Thousands of parents, grandparents and students showed up Saturday morning for the annual Mansfield ISD Back-to-School Bash at Ben Barber Innovation Academy and the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts.

The school district, aided by local non-profits and businesses, handed out more than 5,000 backpacks, stuffed with school supplies, and more than 2,000 pairs of shoes.

The school district also offered vaccinations and health services, while each school campus provided an activity, like bounce houses, and cheerleaders performed.

Vendors and school departments offered activities, such as hockey stick handling and snacks from the nutrition department.

School begins Aug. 14 in the Mansfield ISD.
