City and school leaders gathered Thursday morning to pray for a safe school year for Mansfield ISD’s students, teachers, staff and families.

The 11th annual Community Prayer Breakfast drew a crowd of more than 200 to the John Washington Development Center inside the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for Performing Arts.

Hosted by Common Ground Network, Mansfield ISD and Methodist Mansfield Medical Center, the breakfast was attended by city council members, members of the Mansfield ISD school board, State Representatives David Cook and Chris Turner, Mansfield ISD principals, business leaders and local ministers.

The keynote speech was delivered by First Methodist Mansfield Senior Pastor David Alexander, while Methodist Mansfield Medical Center President and Mansfield City Council member Juan Fresquez served as master of ceremonies.

Longtime Common Ground volunteer Robin Rowe was honored with the Gary Whetzel Heart of the Community Award for her decades of service throughout the community.
