Ranked No. 22 nationally this week by MaxPreps, Lake Ridge has been removed from the Class 6A Division I state playoffs in Texas, according to Greg Riddle of The Dallas Morning News.

Riddle said the Eagles were removed for "inadvertently allowing an ineligible player to participate in an area-round playoff game against El Paso Eastlake on Feb. 21."

The Mansfield ISD self-reported the oversight to the UIL according to Riddle.

Lake Ridge, which was 34-2 prior to the ruling, was set to face Marcus Flower Mound in the semifinals before the ruling came down. Now, Marcus will advance to the regional finals against the winner of North Crowley and another nationally-ranked program in Allen.
