The slate is set for the Mansfield City Council and Mansfield ISD school board elections, scheduled for May 4. The application period for the school board and city council elections closed Feb. 16.
Place 1 and Place 2 on the Mansfield ISD school board are up for election this year.
At Place 1, incumbent Michelle Newsom will be challenged by Matthew Herzberg.
For Place 2, incumbent Desiree Thomas will be running against Jandel Crutchfield and Angel Hidalgo.
On the Mansfield City Council, three seats are up for election this year, but only one is in contention.
For Place 3, incumbent Brent Newsom will be challenged by Anne Weydeck.
Incumbent Julie Short at Place 5 had no challengers this year. Newcomer Juan Fresquez was the only candidate for Place 4. Incumbent Casey Lewis did not file for re-election.
City council and school board seats are for three-year terms.
Also on the ballot will be a $777 million bond for the Mansfield ISD. The bond includes five propositions that touch every campus and facility in the district. Proposition A includes equipment and renovations of school facilities. Proposition B is for instructional technology. Proposition C is for stadium renovations. Proposition D is for student program facilities. Proposition E is for Phase 3 of the Multipurpose Athletic Complexes. The propositions add up to $777 million.
Informational sessions about the bond are planned, according to the district.
