By Order of the City of Mansfield Fire Marshal, a burn ban is in effect for all areas of the city in all counties within the jurisdiction of the City of Mansfield as of Aug. 26. This shall also include the Extra Territorial Jurisdiction one mile outside of the city limits.
This burn ban shall be in effect until lifted by the Mansfield Fire Marshal and includes a prohibition of all outdoor burning and any action or activity that could produce a spark or flame and cause an unwanted fire. Outdoor grilling, cooking and small fires in fire pits during social gatherings are permitted at private residences in an enclosed apparatus that will not allow sparks or flames to escape. Outdoor welding under conditions outlined by the Fire Marshal is allowed by permit only through the Mansfield Fire Department.
Any violation of this order is a violation of the Ordinance of the City of Mansfield which could be considered a Class B misdemeanor.
All violations carry a fine of up to $2,000.
