Mansfield football teams move deeper into district play

All but one of Mansfield ISD’s football teams scored victories last week as they moved deeper into district play.

Mansfield maintained its unbeaten record with a 49-14 win over Lake Ridge on Thursday. The Tigers (6-0, 2-0 in District 6-3A), scored more than 40 points for the fourth time this season. The Eagles (1-4, 0-1 6-3A) dropped their third consecutive game as they opened district play after a bye week.

Legacy celebrates its homecoming win.

Timberview won its second in a row by defeating Arlington Seguin, 38-24, on Thursday night. The Wolves (3-3, 2-2 3-5A DII) have rebounded after dropping their first two district games.

Legacy celebrated homecoming on Friday by recording its first win of the season, 55-14, over Weatherford. The Broncos (1-5, 1-1 6-3A) set a season-high for points scored in their victory.

Summit handled The Colony, 45-21, on Friday. The Jaguars (3-2, 3-0 3-5A DII) are alone atop the district standings.

This week, Mansfield plays host to Crowley at 7 p.m. Thursday at Vernon Newsom Stadium; Timberview and Summit square off at 7 p.m. Friday at Newsom; Legacy travels to face Fort Worth Boswell at 7 p.m. Friday and Lake Ridge meets No. 3-ranked North Crowley at 7 p.m. Friday at North Crowley ISD Stadium.
