Mansfield ISD football teams get back in action

The Mansfield schools return to the football field after an idle week, moving into the meat of the district schedule.

Timberview, ranked No. 6 in the state in Class 5A Division II, hosts Arlington Seguin (1-4, 1-1) at 7 p.m. Thursday at Vernon Newsom Stadium. The Wolves (5-0, 2-0 7-5A DII) are coming off a 54-7 victory against Midlothian Heritage and average an astonishing 56 points per game.

Lake Ridge (3-2, 1-1 District 11-6A) faces Dallas Skyline (2-3, 0-2) in its homecoming game at 7 p.m. Friday at Newsom Stadium. The Eagles are tied for third place in the district standings, with only district leader and top-ranked Waxahachie outpacing Lake Ridge's 195 points scored this season.

Mansfield (2-3, 0-2 11-6A) is on the road against Duncanville (2-3, 1-1) at 7 p.m. Friday at Panther Stadium. The Tigers' past three games were decided in the final minutes, one of which was a Mansfield victory on a game-ending field goal.

Legacy (1-4, 1-1 8-5A DI) travels to meet Burleson Centennial (4-1, 1-1) at 7 p.m. Friday. The Broncos play three of their next five games on the road.

Summit (2-3, 1-1 8-5A DI) welcomes Cedar Hill (1-4, 1-1) at 7 p.m. Friday at R.L. Anderson Stadium. The Jaguars have won two of their past three games, including a 24-19 homecoming victory over Legacy before the break.
