Methodist Mansfield Medical Center had the privilege of welcoming two extraordinary leap year babies into the world on Feb. 29, a day that only graces our calendars once every four years. This rare occurrence was marked by the joyous arrivals of Maia and Liya, each bringing their own unique bundle of happiness to their families and to our community.
At 7:33 a.m., Maia made her grand entrance, weighing 8 pounds and 10 ounces, stretching out to a length of 20 3/4 inches. Born to Mr. and Mrs. Vargas from Alvarado, Maia was delivered by Dr. Kimberly Misamore.
Shortly before Maia's arrival, at 7:04 a.m., Liya made her debut, weighing in at 6 pounds and 5 ounces, measuring 20 1/2 inches in length. Liya was welcomed into the loving arms of Martha Woldetensay from Cedar Hill. Dr. Jonathan Buchholz skillfully facilitated Liya's birth.
As Methodist Mansfield Medical Center celebrates these remarkable leap year babies, we are reminded of the extraordinary nature of their births and the significance of this once-in-four-years occurrence.
