North Texas scores win in first game at Mansfield Stadium

North Texas SC (5-5-5, 22 points) earned all three points in the inaugural match at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium with a 3-0 victory over St Louis CITY2 on Saturday night. MLS SuperDraft pick Ricky Louis scored his first professional brace, while FC Dallas homegrown Caleb Swann added the second goal in front of 5,694 fans.

“It’s special for our players to say they get to play in a facility like this," Coach John Gall said. "Hopefully, it sparks more interest across the league and encourages other clubs to follow suit. First and foremost, though, it’s an absolute privilege. As employees of this club, from the staff to the players, we owe it to the organization, and I thought we repaid that tonight with a tremendous performance. We made a few adjustments at halftime, changed some things tactically, and they worked really well. I’m really proud of the players for the way they competed in front of our home supporters. From the day we knew we were coming to Mansfield, we talked about building a community. I grew up in the U.K., where many clubs are deeply connected to their communities, and this reminds me of that. It feels like the start of something special. We’re going to keep giving everything for this club every week, but tonight’s performance was at a high level. I’m proud we were able to put on a show, especially on the Fourth of July with the fireworks and a great crowd. It was great to see so many people leave happy after watching this group of young players leave everything on the field and earn the result.”

Louis scored the first goal in Texas Health Mansfield Stadium history in the 53rd minute off an assist from Swann. Louis later added his second goal of the night to record his first professional brace. The Georgia Southern forward has two goals in eight appearances for North Texas SC since being selected second overall by FC Dallas in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft.

Forward Da'vian Kimbrough made his North Texas SC debut and recorded his first assist for the club, which also marked the first professional assist of his career. Kimbrough joined North Texas SC on loan from Sacramento Republic FC in June.

North Texas SC travels to face Western Conference opponent Colorado Rapids 2 on July 11 at the University of Denver Soccer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m., and the match will stream live on MLSsoccer.com and OneFootball.
