Billy (Bill) Joe Tomerlin passed away peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2023, in his daughter’s home surrounded by his family. Bill was born May 8, 1936, in Sabinal, Texas, to Martin Jesse Tomerlin and Erie Lucy (Butts) Tomerlin.
Bill was a proud U.S. Navy veteran that served our country from 1956 to 1960. Bill and Sandy married in August 2002 and resided in Mansfield, Texas. They regularly attended Walnut Ridge Baptist Church. Bill enjoyed having coffee every morning with friends at the local McDonald’s and playing cards with his Sunday School class. It was always a competition with his friends, who could win the women or the men. He especially loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Bill and Sandy were huge supporters of Mansfield Summit High School Athletics, specifically the girls’ basketball team and were even honored by the Mansfield Athletic Department with a plaque.
