An altercation between a referee and a parent left one person injured and another under arrest June 8.
Mansfield police were responded to a call of a fight at The Fieldhouse USA Mansfield, 650 US 287, at 3:20 p.m.
"During the investigation, officers discovered that the disturbance began over a disagreement between a parent and a referee concerning a foul during a game," according to Mansfield police. "The verbal argument escalated as the two individuals were leaving.
"Officers were told both subjects continued to verbally argue until the argument became physical when they bumped each other with their shoulders," police said. "It was at this point in the altercation that the referee pulled a knife from his pocket and assaulted the parent by stabbing and cutting him on his side and back area. A security officer at the facility secured the referee and the knife."
Referee Leslie Taylor was arrested on charges of assault with a deadly weapon. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening, according to police.
