For a community to grow and thrive, it takes collaboration, inclusion and communication. During National Volunteer Month in April, Park Place Dealerships partnered with 16 nonprofits in North Texas, including the Mansfield Mission Center, which provides support for the underserved in Tarrant County. Park Place employees from Arlington, Fort Worth, Dallas and Plano volunteered to build a potting shed for the Mansfield Mission Center.
“The potting shed is a tool shed with a small greenhouse attached,” explained Kara Connor, Park Place Dealerships Experiential Marketing Manager. “The shed will help Mansfield Mission expand their onsite garden to grow fresh food. It also will be part of their future garden programming, which will involve children and seniors participating in light gardening and harvesting food together. Our members really enjoyed lending a hand to build the shed and support our community.”
Founded in 1979 by First Methodist Mansfield before an independent 501(c)3 was established in 2013. The organization changed its name in 2018 to Mansfield Mission Center (MMC) and today serves thousands of residents each year through the work of 20 employees and hundreds of volunteers. MMC continues to grow through relationships with churches, individual donors, corporate sponsors, grants, and thrift store revenue.
Park Place Members spread out across Dallas-Fort Worth for their annual Week of Service. Members helped with a wide range of projects from preparing snack packs and hygiene packs to landscaping projects. In addition to Mansfield Mission, the nonprofits included Bonton Farms; C.A.S.T. for Kids; Catch Up & Read; CitySquare; Community Healthcare of Texas; Community of Schools of the Dallas Region; Girls Inc of Metropolitan Dallas; Hagar’s Heart; Helping Hands for Little Hearts; Hope Restored Missions; The Ladder Alliance; Metrocrest Services; SafeHaven of Tarrant County; Texas Trees Foundation and Vogel Alcove.
Park Place Motorcars Arlington is located south of Interstate 20 at 4201 Beltway Place, between Matlock Road and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive.
