The City of Mansfield is partnering to bring the Trinity Metro On-Demand rideshare service to the community this summer.
The Regional Transportation Council and City of Mansfield will offer a six-month pilot micro-transit program starting July 15. Customers can use the GoPass app or call a car to pick them up and drop them off at any location within city limits.
“We have heard from residents who need this service to be more independent and get to work or a doctor’s appointment,” Mayor Michael Evans said. “This partnership allows us to help those in need in our community, provide another transportation option for all, and keep Mansfield moving.”
The pilot program will launch with three vans, one of which is ADA accessible.
People ages 15 and older can use the service to go anywhere in Mansfield. Those under 15 will need to be accompanied by an adult. The service will operate from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. Trips will cost $3 and a day pass is available for $5. Veterans and seniors ages 65 and older are eligible to ride for a discounted price of $2.50 per trip.
The service is already available across Fort Worth and cities such as Grand Prairie and Arlington have similar rideshare offerings.
Funding for this program is 80 percent federally funded and 20 percent local.
