Historical: Buchanan-Hayter-Witherspoon House

This photo from August 1898 shows the Buchanan-Hayter-Witherspoon House at 306 E. Broad St. Shown in the photo are May Doughty Witherspoon and infant Ann Witherspoon Roberts Gilstrap, Mr. Witherspoon with Ellen Seward, and Ann Doughty Knox Witherspoon.

The house is believed to have been built in 1871 as the first Presbyterian manse for Rev. A.S. Hayter.
