A new class will soon take their places on the walls at Vernon Newsom Stadium as part of the 2024 inductees of the Mansfield ISD Hall of Honor.
“The Mansfield ISD Athletic Hall of Honor is one Mansfield ISD’s greatest traditions,” said Jerod Womack, executive director of athletics for the Mansfield ISD. “The Hall of Honor recognizes former coaches, volunteers, teams and student athletes who have had a lasting impact on the MISD Athletic department and beyond. I am very proud of this 2024 class and look forward to a great event on November 2nd.”
This year’s honorees include former Timberview High girls basketball coach Candi Harvey, Summit High volleyball and track star Camille Cherry Smith, Mansfield High basketball and volleyball standout Kyla Hill Taggert, Legacy High track and field star Kayla Taylor and Mansfield High’s 2011 boys state champion golf team, which includes Andy Ariens, Kolton Crawford, Hayden Frederick, Andy Garcia and Luke Neeley.
This year’s class will be inducted at 2 p.m. Nov. 2 at the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for the Performing Arts, 1110 W. Debbie Lane. Tickets are $20 for the reception. Tickets and sponsorships are available here.
After the reception, the inductees’ photos and a plaque about their accomplishments will be placed in the community room at Vernon Newsom Stadium. Mansfield ISD’s Hall of Honor began in 2013.
