Mansfield voters won’t have to travel to get a bottle of liquor anymore.
On Tuesday, voters approved Proposition A, which will allow Mansfield businesses to sell liquor for off-site consumption. In the special election, voters approved the measure with 19,579, or 65.47 percent, for, while 10,326, or 34.53 percent against.
Previously, Mansfield allows sales of wine and beer between noon and midnight on Sunday, between 7 a.m. and midnight, Monday through Friday, and between 7 a.m. and 1 a.m. on Saturday.
The special election, which was held in conjunction with the general election, was unanimously approved by the Mansfield City Council on Aug. 12 after a petition with 9,122 registered voters was submitted to the city.
