Thanksgiving is now just a week away, but Thursday was Friendsgiving at Album Mansfield. The 55-plus active adult community hosted a “Friendsgiving Potluck Dinner.”

Attendees were encouraged to bring a favorite dish to share.

Jackie Williams, 68, was among the friendly faces greeting guests. “Jackie is one of our community ambassadors, and is always around and available when we need help with set up and take down of the events we do,” said Haylee Long, Sales Consultant at Album Mansfield.

Event planning is right up Williams’ alley. Before retiring, she served as Clinical Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at UT Southwestern Medical Center. About 100 people reported to her.

“It was a huge job, and a lot to replace,” said Williams, who right away after moving in, joined Album Mansfield’s Ambassador Program. “I got very involved in event planning, and they wanted me to help steer a lot of the events that we were doing. It has just been a godsend for me,” said Williams.

The Friendsgiving event is the second community event of the month. A Gratitude Gala was held the evening of Nov. 15.
