The Kiwanis Club of Mansfield will once again ring in the holidays with a FaLaLaLa 5K on Dec. 14.
The decade-old event kicks off at 8:30 a.m. at McKnight Park East, running along the Walnut Creek Linear Trail.
Participants are encouraged to dress up in holiday attire, said Sara Brantley, Kiwanis’ service project chair, and bring items for the food drive for the H.I.M. Center.
“We’ll have Santa, photo ops with blow-ups, a DJ and a Christmas tree at the turnaround,” Brantley said. “We have volunteers all along the route cheering people on. We have art along the path to direct runners and cheer them on. The Key Club members draw all along the path.”
Funds raised from the 5K run go to the Key Clubs, scholarships for Mansfield ISD students and to Mansfield’s Feed the Kids project.
Cost to run is $30 for adults, $25 for runners under age 18 before Dec. 3, when the price goes up $5. The schools with the most runners to sign up will win cash prizes, top 3 finishers in each class will earn medals and the top male and female runners will receive a $150 credit for Run United. Packet pickup will be from 2-6 p.m. at Run United, 650 US 287 Frontage Road, No. 118.
