Brian Waters, Jaden Godeau, Jonathan Williams and Damian Jackson each scored double digits as Timberview beat the Burleson Elks 65-26 Friday at Timberview.
The No. 18-ranked 5A team in Texas, Timberview (2-0 in district, 14-4) struck first as senior guard Jackson made two free-throws on Timberview’s first possession and led Burleson (1-1, 14-6) the rest of the game.
Jackson scored five points in the first quarter and finished the game with 10. Timberview junior Waters scored a game-high 12 points and made a game-high three three-pointers as Timberview made 10 threes to Burleson’s two.
Timberview senior guard Godeau and junior Williams each scored 11.
Burleson senior forward B.J. Evans led Burleson with nine points, including a fast-break layup to get Burleson on the board and cut Timberview’s lead to 5-2 in the first quarter.
Timberview – riding a three-game win streak and having won five of its last six – will look to maintain momentum when they compete in the Fort Worth ISD Classic Tournament Thursday through Saturday at Wilkerson-Greines Center.
Timberview returns to district play against the Everman Bulldogs (0-2, 4-12) Jan. 3 at 1:30 p.m. at Everman High School.
Burleson – off to its best start during head coach Anthony Dees’s tenure – will look to get back in the win column when it competes in the Wimberly Tournament Friday and Saturday before returning to district play against the Cleburne Yellow Jackets (0-2, 3-
13) Jan. 3 at 7 p.m. at Burleson High School.
