Looking for a prom dress? Check one out at the Mansfield Public Library.

The library is collecting new and gently-used gowns for Once Upon a Dress, a free exchange that gives donor dresses to girls heading to their prom.

“We’re looking for ways to help the community,” said Lori Eddy, community engagement librarian. “We had a costume swap in October, and it was such a success that we decided to try this.

“It offers families who may not be able to purchase a dress a different option,” Eddy said. “Several libraries do it throughout DFW.”

Dress donations will be taken through March 19 at the library, 104 S. Wisteria St.

Girls can come to shop for free gowns from 2-5 p.m. March 21 and from noon-3 p.m. April 12 at the library.
