The slate is set for the May 3 Mansfield City Council and Mansfield ISD school board elections.

Filing closed Feb. 14.

The final week to file drew one final candidate for city council. Eric Rozak, who is in construction, threw his hat in the ring for Place 5, where he will face Melisa Perez, Todd Simmons and Lance Hood.

The council called a special election for the Place 5 seat, which will be vacated by Julie Short, who is running for mayor. The successful candidate will serve the final two years of Short’s term at Place 5.

Short is facing incumbent Michael Evans for mayor.

Incumbent Tamara Bounds and Lori Williams are in contention for the Place 2 position.

On the Mansfield ISD school board, Places 3, 4 and 5 will be on the ballot.

School board secretary Craig Tipping will face challenger Jason Thomas for Place 3.

Board president Keziah Valdes Farrar has filed to run again for Place 4 and will face Ana-Alicia Horn.

For Place 5, incumbent Bianca Benavides Anderson, Dustin McDonald and Jesse Cannon II have filed to run.

Tipping, Farrar and Anderson were all elected in 2022.

All positions are for three-year terms, except the Place 5 race, which will be for the final two years of Short’s term.

Early voting will run April 22-29 with the general and special election May 3.
