Hundreds of parents and students began lining up before the sun came up Aug. 5 for Mansfield ISD's Back-to-School Bash.
Almost 5,000 backpacks and 1,500 pairs of shoes were passed out to students at Ben Barber Career Academy and the Dr. Jim Vaszauskas Center for Performing Arts. Students also received vaccinations, haircuts and information about lunches and transportation.
Dozens of vendors and all of the schools in the district also participated, passing out information and playing games.
The crowd of students and parents was estimated at more than 10,000.
