Summit’s bid to reach the UIL football playoffs fell short Thursday night in a 23-22 loss to Arlington Seguin.

In a game in which the winner would claim the final playoff spot in District 3-5A Division II, the Jaguars (6-4, 5-3 3-5A II) took their final drive into Seguin territory, but time ran out before Summit could score.

In the other Thursday game involving a Mansfield ISD team, Mansfield (5-5, 4-2 3-6A) defeated Weatherford, 55-41, to wrap up the regular season. The Tigers advance to the Class 6A playoffs next week with an opponent and site to be determined.

Tonight, Lake Ridge (7-2, 4-1 3-6A) wraps up its regular season against Boswell at 7 p.m. at Vernon Newsom Stadium. The Eagles already have clinched a playoff berth and next week will meet an opponent to be decided.

Timberview (7-3, 6-3 3-5II), which already had clinched a postseason berth, is idle Friday, as is Legacy (4-6, 2-4 3-6A), whose season ended last week.
