The Arlington-Mansfield Area YMCA is relaunching Play Days this spring, an outreach initiative designed to bring kids the simple joy of being a kid, while connecting parents and caregivers to trusted community resources. Play Days is led through the YMCA’s Community Outreach efforts and is presented in partnership with the Trinity Community Foundation.
Play Days offers children in underserved Arlington and Mansfield communities a welcoming day of games, activities and sports, along with a hot meal and groceries, and a chance for families to learn about support options such as food and rent assistance.
“Play is a great way to get parents out and connect them to the resources already here for their families,” said Bill Bowie of the Trinity Community Foundation. “When we lead with joy and relationships, we can open the door to real support.”
This Spring 2026 relaunch is made possible through a growing network of organizations working together to strengthen families, including: Trinity Community Foundation, Texas Health Resources, Dental Health Arlington, H.O.P.E. Tutoring, The H.I.M. Center, Arlington Charities, Arlington Police Department and Church 360.
Each month’s Play Days will spotlight a unique theme to inspire participation and community spirit:
- March: March Into Momentum: Momentum starts with me.
- April: Spring Into Action: New season. New goals.
- May: Family Fun & Community Heroes: Strong families. Strong community.
- June: Splash Into Summer: Safe. Strong. Summer ready.
These themes provide a framework for activities, engagement and community discussions that resonate with families and reflect seasonal priorities.
Play Days provide children in underserved Arlington and Mansfield communities with a welcoming space to play games, participate in activities and enjoy light meals, while volunteers and partner organizations share information about community services, such as food assistance, oral health resources, tutoring and more, that families may not otherwise discover.
Support for Play Days directly fuels the AMA YMCA’s outreach efforts in Arlington and Mansfield. Individuals and organizations can make a financial contribution at: amaymca.org/give. Those interested in volunteering at Play Days or becoming a community partner are invited to contact Joseph Williams at JosephW@amaymca.org to get involved.
