Mansfield voters will have a short ballot when they go to the polls May 2, with only one seat on the Mansfield ISD board of trustees in contention. Early voting starts Tuesday.
Incumbent Courtney Lackey Wilson will face off with Michele Gooch for Place 7 on the school board. Wilson, a business owner, has been elected to the school board five times, but had to resign in 2021 due to health reasons. She was re-elected in 2023.
Gooch, a leadership coach and trainer, is a first-time candidate.
Members of the Mansfield ISD school board and City Council are elected to three-year terms.
School board president Benita Reed, a college professor, serves at Place 6 and will complete her first three-year term in May. She is uncontested in her bid for another term.
The Mansfield City Council canceled its election after both positions up for election only drew a single candidate.
Mayor Pro Tem Todd Tonore, a business owner, was unopposed in his bid for Place 6. He was first elected in November 2020 to fill an unexpired term.
Business owner Larry Broseh has served seven terms on the city council, but chose not to run again for Place 7. Retired Mansfield ISD Superintendent Jim Vaszauskas was the lone candidate for Place 7 seat. Local construction owner Eric Rozak had filed to run for position, but withdrew his name.
Early voting will run April 20-28. For information on times and polling places, click here.
