North Texas SC (6-6-6, 26 points) rallied back from two goals down to earn a 2-2 draw with Los Angeles FC 2 (7-5-7, 31 points) at Texas Health Mansfield Stadium on Saturday night. Nicholas Simmonds scored the game-tying penalty in the 93rd minute to help North Texas earn a point before falling in the extra-point shootout.
Homegrown forward Benji Flowers made his first professional start tonight, making history as the youngest to do so in club history. Flowers is the youngest player in the FC Dallas Organization to sign a professional and homegrown contract.
Midfielder Edu Nys scored his ninth goal from a goalkeeper turnover forced by Simmonds. Nys has appeared in all 18 matches for the club this year. He signed with the club in February 2026.
Simmonds scored his second goal of the season on a penalty kick, including another in the extra penalty shootout. Simmonds has six appearances for the club, and was drafted No. 3 overall in the 2026 MLS SuperDraft.
North Texas improved to 3-1-2.
North Texas heads to Ventura County FC on July 31 after the MLS All-Star Festivities. All-Star weekend includes the MLS NEXT All-Star Game presented by Allstate, featuring Flowers at 6:30 p.m. July 27. Then MLS stars will compete in the Skills-Challenge, featuring FC Dallas’ Petar Musa. MLS and Liga MX send their all-stars to compete in the 2026 All-Star game at 8 p.m. July 29 in Charlotte, N.C.
