Pickle Parade needs more pickles

Dear Editor,

I brined myself for a dill-ightful time at the Mansfield Pickle Parade, but instead, I was left sour. For an event dedicated to the glorious gherkin, the pickle presence was, well… half-sour at best. Where were the pickle-themed activities? No bobbing for pickles, no pickle walk, not even a cuke toss! A parade without tossed goodies? That’s just relish-ous.

Mayor Michael Evans seemed more interested in pressing the flesh than pressing cucumbers into brine. His campaign enthusiasm was noticeable, but his pickle passion? Kosher, at best. If this was supposed to be a pickle party, why did it feel more like a lukewarm jar of forgotten fridge dills?

Next year, let’s turn up the brine! Bring on the games, the giveaways, and the real celebration of all things pickled. Until then, I’ll be home—soaking in my disappointment.

Sincerely,

Barry Julien

A big dill pickle fan
