Mansfield police arrested three men after a pursuit from Mansfield to Dallas that ended in a crash Monday afternoon.

Nelson Murray, 65, was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, evading arrest and engaging in organized retail theft, while Willie McNealy, 62, and Erwin Roland, 63, were charged with engaging in organized retail theft.

At approximately 3:02 p.m., Mansfield officers responded to a reported shoplifting in progress at Target, 1801 N. U.S. 287 Frontage Road, that included a description of the suspect's vehicle. Mansfield police deployed a drone that located the vehicle and obtained a license plate number. Communications personnel discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier that day in Richardson.

When officers arrived on scene, the suspect vehicle fled, initiating a pursuit. Officers determined that two suspects were inside the vehicle while a third suspect remained inside the Target store.

The pursuit ended in the 3900 block of Interstate 20 in Dallas when the suspect vehicle crashed into a white Chevrolet Suburban that was stopped on the shoulder of the road. The Suburban had been involved in an unrelated traffic accident, and all occupants were outside their vehicle exchanging information at the time of the collision.

The suspect vehicle, a gray Toyota Camry, was being driven by Murray, while McNealy was a passenger, according to police. Roland was detained at the Mansfield Target.

The three suspects were arrested and transported to the Mansfield Jail without further incident.

At the time of Roland’s arrest, officers recovered $383.91 worth of stolen merchandise from his possession. Additional stolen merchandise valued at $1,192.63 was recovered from the suspect vehicle.

No injuries were reported during the incident.
