The Arlington Juneteenth Celebration returns to downtown Arlington on Saturday, June 20, as the Levitt Pavilion closes out its summer concert series with an evening of live music and community celebration.
This is the Levitt's fifth installment of the popular festival, presented in partnership with Service 1st Initiatives, Inc. and Iota Mu Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Admission is free.
Festivities begin at 5 p.m. with a vendor market and food trucks, offering guests a chance to shop, connect and enjoy local flavors before the ceremony and concerts get underway at the Levitt Pavilion Arlington, 100 W. Abram St.
Stage activities begin around 6 p.m. A Levitt Youth Spotlight performer will present the National Anthem and Black National Anthem, followed by a scholarship presentation by Phi Beta Sigma and a compelling video reflecting on the history and significance of Juneteenth.
The evening’s concert lineup begins at 7 p.m. with Branoofunck, known for crowd-pleasing shows, a band member with a Grammy on his shelf, and a sound rooted in classic hip hop, funk and groove that has made the group a favorite on the Deep Ellum music scene.
At 8:30 p.m., Fort Worth-based 4Ya Soul Band takes the stage with an upbeat blend of R&B, soul and the band's signature high-energy live performance style.
“We’re thrilled to close out our summer concert season on such an amazing, celebratory note,” said Letatia Teykl, president and CEO of Levitt Pavilion Arlington. “Over the past five years, this event has created so many wonderful memories, and we’re so proud to partner with Phi Beta Sigma Arlington to bring the community together for an evening that is meaningful but also just plain fun. You’ll hear great music, enjoy good food and shopping, and connect with people from across Arlington and North Texas.”
“We’re delighted to offer this celebration to the community and encourage everyone to come together to honor both the spirit of Juneteenth and our connection to one another as neighbors,” said Omar Roberson, Juneteenth event chair and President of Service 1st Initiatives. “It’s a chance to celebrate history, celebrate community and, of course, enjoy music that is guaranteed to make you get up and dance—and best of all, it’s free!”
The Juneteenth event is part of an exciting weekend of live music at the Levitt. On Friday, June 19, the Levitt will host a Texas Made Songs, sponsored by the Texas Music Office, a singer-songwriter celebration featuring acclaimed hitmaker Radney Foster.
Admission is free. Lawn chairs and blankets are encouraged.
Early arrival is recommended.
Free parking is available in public lots throughout downtown Arlington, including City of Arlington buildings.
